While there's still a little sunshine left to enjoy here in Amsterdam, I can't help but look forward to the best parts of fall. It reminds me a lot of ‘apple-flaps’ (apple turnovers), pumpkins, hot chocolate, cold crisp weather, storms + drizzle and going back to school (even though I graduated about a hundred years ago).
On the first day of Fall, (here in the Netherlands the first fall-day was on September the first), the hours of daylight and hours of night were the same but as time goes by the hours of daylight get shorter and shorter until winter begins when you'll see that it's dark by tea-time.
Just get your scarves and waterproofs out cause there are loads of reasons to be super excited for fall! Here are a few:
-Falling leaves are immensely gorgeous. They really are. It's a fact!
-The idea of freshly sharpened pencils, new school supplies (yes,yes....I remember that very well...) and a new fresh start at school...
-All our favorite TV shows return with new seasons!
-We can finally think of cozy sweaters, plaids and (rain-)boots without sweating...hehe
-During the summer, the day feels wasted if you didn't go outside or go to the beach. But now, it's totally acceptable to pass out after seven hours of Netflix. ;-)
-Yes! It’s apple-picking season; Dutch Apple-flaps (apple turnovers) and apple pies will be on their best!
-It’s also Pumpkin season, those ‘bad-boys’ will be everywhere! Halloween is coming and all kids can go caraaazy with those pumpkins! And here at GOSOAKY we’re already thinking for weeks of Pumpkin spice lattes (I found out how to make those for my fabulous colleagues..see recipe at the bottom of this blogpost…;-)… )
-And last but not least; besides the fact that there will be a lot of ‘freshly-raked leaves-jumping’ there will also be plenty of puddle jumping (yay).
And tell me….Is there anything better than that?? Ahgaa! I don’t think so!
Pumpkin spice latte recipe:
- 1½ tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons pumpkin puree (can be out of a can)
- ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- ½ cup (4oz / 115g) brewed coffee
- ½ cups (4oz / 115g) milk
- In a saucepan add in all of your ingredients.
- Stir and bring the ingredients to a simmer.
- Take the saucepan off the heat and pour into your mug.
- Decorate with freshly whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon.
